After a certain age Halloween seems like the magic has run out. That was the case for me at least. As an aunt to two nephews who are young, I have changed my resolve to be even more excited for Halloween. Here are a few ways my family and I are getting ready for Halloween. Maybe it will inspire you and yours!
Let’s talk: Halloween Decorations
Decorating for Halloween adds to said magic of the holiday. We’ve decided to decorate our house with cobwebs, garlands, skeletons and little ghost to hang from the roof! In addition to this beautiful wreath at Tj Maxx that I saw and knew I had to buy to get into the spooky mood.

Movie Marathons
Movie Marathons are probably one of my favorite ways to get into the spirit of Halloween. I mean really is it Halloween without a marathon of Harry Potter movies? Here are a few more suggestions for you to enjoy on your movie nights!
- The Addams Family
- The Halloween Town movies
- Goosebumps
- Twitches & Twitches Too
- Coraline
- Monster House
- Casper
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- Hocus Pocus
- Beetlejuice
- Practical Magic

Spooky Treats
I don’t know about you but I can’t enjoy movies without some snacks! It’s all about the SUGAR COOKIES. Get the family friends and even your roommates involved and have a cookie decorating contest. Amazon has some super cute cookie cutters that I have linked for an easy purchase for you! For large cookie cutters order here! For smaller cookie cutters order here!
When it comes to Halloween treats don’t stop at cookies! Caramel apples are always a great choice. Mix it up with Popcorn Balls and Peanut Butter Rice Crispy treats! Wash your treats down with some yummy hot chocolate. To make the BEST hot chocolate I definitely recommend using milk instead of water and adding extra marshmallows. If you like pumpkin flavor add some pumpkin spice!
Pumpkin Patch Visit

Now this is one of my favorite things to do! I LOVE visiting a good pumpkin patch. There is nothing like browsing the fields for that perfect pumpkin to carve. In my family pumpkin carving is a Halloween Tradition, as I’m sure it is yours! My family is really competitive so we have a pumpkin carving contest. We take our contests real serious! Get your pumpkin carving kit here!
Experience the full magic of Halloween all around! Embrace your inner child. It’s spooky season! Let’s talk:How to get ready for Halloween. Now it’s your turn, tell me how you’re getting ready for Halloween.
